K-beauty monthly updates May!
Hello Glow Pro's!
Every month we update you with the latest news regarding ingredients, trends, techniques, new products, well everything related to K-beauty and its world. We search around online, talk to our Seoul mates and now for the month of May, we got valuable information from an owner of a skincare clinic we visited during our last visit to Seoul!
During our visit to the skincare clinic Individiuel Geneve, we had a chat with the owner after our treatment. He gave us personalized recommendations on products from Olive Young and was incredibly knowledgeable and insightful about the world of K-beauty, so interesting that we sat for a whole hour after our treatment just talking Korean skincare! This conversation is partly the basis for this month's K-beauty Updates.
Trend #1: The ingredient glutamine.
The owner of the clinic told us that glutamine (glutathione if you want to search for the ingredient here on our website) is such a popular ingredient that beauty enthusiasts are injecting this active ingredient via IV drip! A bit dramatic if you ask us, but we were not really surprised. The Koreans are really going all out for skin, health and holistic beauty!
So what is glutamine?
Glutamine is a tripeptide consisting of three amino acids(cysteine, glutamic acid, and glycine) andis also an antioxidant that occurs naturally in our skin, so it is an ingredient that the skin easily recognizes, a bit like hyaluronic acid which is also found naturally in the skin and body.
This ingredient actively works on the skin's immune system but is more known for its properties to work to improve skin tone and affect melanin production. Therefore, it is a common ingredient in products that work on the general appearance of the skin and especially skin tone and its possible irregularities.
It is common for glutamine to be found in vitamin C products, such as in these C13 and C23 serums from Cosrx and glutamine is also found in CLE's vitamin C.
You'll also find glutamine in Dr. Ceuracle's VC Mellight Boosting Essence and CosRx Snail Radiance Dual Essence. Two skin tone boosting products.
Glutamine is an ingredient that can be used daily, both morning and night if desired. Since it is not a main ingredient, it plays well with many other ingredients and is a perfect sidekick to other peptides and vitamins.
Trend #2 Skin Streaming
Trend #2 is a type of routine focusing on antioxidants called Skin Streaming where the routine is a stripped down routine containing 3-4 products where the antioxidant serum is the focus. The Skin Streaming routine focuses on cleansing, antioxidants, moisturizer and SPF. Skin streaming is cost-effective and doesn't risk compromising the skin barrier and is especially good for sensitive, reactive skin or if you are just starting to explore K-beauty!
Why not combine these two trends, the ingredient glutamine as an antioxidant in your Skin Streaming routine?
This week we are offering 30% off selected Skin Streaming products which you can find HERE.
Here are suggestions for Skin Streaming routines for your skin type:
Sensitive: Cica cleanser, Cica serum, Cica cream from CosRx and Cica Regen SPF50 from Dr. Ceuracle. Centella asiatica a.k.a. cica is an herb that is perfect for sensitive and reactive skin as it soothes and reduces redness and repairs a damaged skin barrier. Centella is also an antioxidant that protects your skin from oxidative stress!
